Well, the time has finally come for another adventure. It’s been almost two years since I returned home from Thailand and I’ve been thinking (and dreaming) about traveling since. It’s time to once again shed myself of all burdensome possessions, keep what’s necessary, stuff it all into a couple of bags, and explore this wondrous planet. This time the direction happens to be south, towards the sun, where palm trees reach towards the sky and life stirs throughout all months of the year. It’s time to say goodbye to the restricting cold that seems to keep people so distant from one another. It’s time to break through the borders of this country to see new landscapes, meet new people, and think new ideas. A different climate, a different culture, a different language, a different way of thinking. It’s so refreshing to take off my Canadian lens and see the world from a new perspective. To see “my” country from the outside.
So Mexico is the destination. Why Mexico? Why not Mexico? I like to jump on any opportunity to travel and this one was within my reach, so I grabbed it. The departure date is shortly after Christmas ’09 and the arrival should occur within the first two days of the new decade. I’ve been practicing my Spanish every day for the past two months in preparation for this trip.
This time the adventure begins in Richmond, BC, Canada and will proceed towards the specific destination of La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico. The mode of transportation is my uncle’s truck. We will make our way south through Washington, Oregon, and California to the U.S./Mexico border. And from the U.S. border we will continue southbound until we reach La Paz.

I have created a list of everything I will bring with me on this trip. I’m trying to pack as lightly as possible because I may be traveling around on foot after we arrive in La Paz. Also, the less I carry, the more free I feel.

Organization above all. Muy bien, al estilo canadience, no falta nada. Me atrevo a sugerir que traigas otros pantalones, jeans o pants.
Perfecto, you are on the way!
