Problem:
Completed a fresh install of Windows XP Pro and installed Service Pack 3. Downloaded the latest version of Microsoft Live Messenger from get.live.com. When running the installation, each component fails saying “not installed” with a red “X” beside it.

There’s nothing quite as annoying as when you constantly see “Error on Page” in the status bar while surfing the ‘net with Internet Explorer. I’m talking about what you see in the image below:

When you see “Error on Page” in the status bar, it usually means that there’s been a scripting error in the code for the site. Sometimes that’s unavoidable because certain web site programmers will upload buggy code. But if you are seeing the error message at nearly every website you go to, it’s a safe bet that something’s wrong with your computer settings.

Skype is free software which allows you to make free long-distance computer-to-computer voice calls. You can also sign up for their premium service which allows you to make calls from your computer to land lines and cell phones. Subscription costs can be found by clicking here. Skype is a great alternative to paid long distance providers – when it works properly! I recently paid a visit to a client of mine who was experiencing problems communicating over Skype. Whoever she called said that her voice was so choppy that they couldn’t understand her.
To solve the problem, I used the steps below on her computer. I suggest you follow them if you are having a similar problem. (Step 5 solved this particular problem)
