About

Hello and welcome to my small contribution to the world wide web. The focus of this blog is technology (and my struggles and triumphs over it), however you will find posts related to my thoughts and travels as well.

Basically I’m a Canadian male in my mid twenties currently living in the beautiful province of British Columbia. I was raised in the great plains of southern Alberta, where I grew up believing that -30 degree winters are normal!

I moved to BC about three years ago and I’ve discovered that I like everything about it including the mild climate, scenery, cultural diversity, and the people’s positive attitude towards the environment.

Professional

As you can probably tell from the theme of my blog, I’m an IT professional by trade. Throughout high school I held various part-time positions working at small PC repair shops. After high school, I studied computer programming (Java) and network engineering (CCNA/CCNP) at a technical college in Alberta. While going to college I worked part-time as a technical support rep at a large ISP and then worked as a support technician at the city library. After graduating from college, I worked on a short contract as a network analyst for a large firm.

Personal

My top three values are:

  • Knowledge
  • Diversity
  • Integrity

My number one passion in life is the pursuit of knowledge, so I spend a lot of time reading, listening, observing, analyzing, and asking questions. I love to figure out how things work, especially computers and the Internet.

My other two passions in life are music and languages. I’ve played the guitar since I was 13 years old. I’ve also spent six months learning Thai in Thailand and for the past year I’ve been studying Spanish.

I love diversity and change. In the last three years I’ve spent 9 months traveling through Thailand and Mexico for the pure enjoyment of adjusting to different customs and languages. I like to meet new people, listen to them, and learn from them.
